Tonberry

Tonberry (トンベリ), a distinctive and memorable character in Final Fantasy VIII, appears both as an enemy and a summon. As an enemy, it is commonly found in Centra Ruins and Ultimecia Castle, depicted as a small, green creature with a brown cloak, carrying a lantern and a chef's knife. Its attacks include slowly approaching and using the knife for an instant-kill attack, and a counterattack called "Everyone's Grudge," which deals damage based on the attacker's kill count. In Centra Ruins, defeating a sufficient number of Tonberries may trigger the appearance of the Tonberry King, defeating which allows the player to obtain the Tonberry Guardian Force (GF). As a GF, Tonberry's summon attack, "Chef's Knife," deals non-elemental damage to a random enemy. It does not learn any junction abilities, but learns useful support abilities like boosting evasion and luck, and starting battles with a full ATB gauge. Tonberry can also manipulate enemy levels, influence item drops and experience gain, and provide shopping conveniences.
