X-ATM092(Boss)

X-ATM092, also known as the Black Widow, is a boss in Final Fantasy VIII and a recurring mechanical spider-like enemy in the series. It first appears in Dollet during the SeeD field exam, activated by Biggs to pursue the player party as they leave the communications tower. Players must attack it until it collapses and enters "self-repair mode," at which point they should flee. X-ATM092 then continues to chase the party, though players can avoid it with skillful maneuvering. If caught, they must fight it again. Players can choose to defeat it during the chase, earning 100 points on their SeeD exam report and extra rewards like Power Wrist, Orihalcon, Hypno Crown, or Force Armlet. X-ATM092 is weak to Thunder attacks, and players can use spells like Thunder or character's Limit Breaks to damage it. In addition, players can draw Double magic from it in battle, which is very useful in later fights. It uses special attacks like Ray-Bomb and can self-repair multiple times, but can ultimately be destroyed. This boss is unique in that players can engage it multiple times for rewards, and it is a challenge that tests the player's strategy and preparedness.
