Musashibou Benkei, also known as 武蔵坊弁慶, is a Lancer-class Servant in Fate/Grand Order (FGO). He is renowned for his loyalty, bravery, and great strength, and is a famous warrior monk in Japanese history. In the game, Benkei is usually depicted as a tall warrior wielding a naginata, who was a loyal retainer of Minamoto no Yoshitsune. Although legend states he had a weak point, his shin, in the game this weakness doesn't exist; he just experiences severe pain if kicked there. The Benkei in the game is not the real Benkei from history, but a monk named Hitachibou Kaison. He felt ashamed for fleeing the battlefield and, in an attempt to atone for his cowardice, impersonated Benkei, and became a Heroic Spirit. He desires to make Benkei's heroic deeds eternal through the Holy Grail War. Benkei is known in FGO for his unique skills and Noble Phantasm, including the ability to stun enemies, remove their buffs, and inflict curses. He is also loved by players for his amusing personality and occasional clumsiness.
