Shizuka Kusanagi

Shizuka Kusanagi is a supporting character in The King of Fighters series. She is primarily known as Kyo Kusanagi's mother and Saisyu Kusanagi's wife. Although she is a member of the Kusanagi clan, possessing the ability to control fire and hinted to be skilled with a naginata (a Japanese polearm), she chose a peaceful life as a housewife. She has appeared in The King of Fighters: Kyo and The King of Fighters: Destiny. In The King of Fighters: Kyo, she calmly confronted an intruder, Eiji Kisaragi, with her naginata and invited him for tea to avoid messing up her clean house. She also cleverly tricked her husband into revealing his plans. Flashbacks reveal her concern about her son Kyo's rigorous training and her tending to his injuries. Shizuka is portrayed as a gentle and kind-hearted woman who loves her family but dislikes fighting. She possesses a remarkable poker face, remaining calm even when furious, sometimes intimidating her husband with just a look. Overall, Shizuka is a strong woman who chose a life of domesticity; although not a main combatant, she leaves a memorable impression on players of The King of Fighters series with her unique charm.
