Souji Kusanagi

Souji Kusanagi is a character from The King of Fighters series, first appearing in The King of Fighters: Kyo. He is a cousin of the protagonist, Kyo Kusanagi. Souji was initially chosen to lead the Kusanagi clan, but he was afflicted with a condition similar to the 'Riot of the Blood' for unknown reasons. To avoid losing control like Iori Yagami, he gave up training and fighting, and moved to Tokyo for his studies. In The King of Fighters: Kyo's story, when Kyo was doubting his fate to seal Orochi, his father, Saisyu Kusanagi, showed him a picture of Souji in a berserk state and suggested he seek answers from Souji in Tokyo. Souji told Kyo about the dark side of the Kusanagi power and his experience of losing control due to his excessive pursuit of power. He asked Kyo to find his runaway sister, Aoi. Souji is a thoughtful character, and highly respected by Kyo. He fights using Kusanagi-style ancient martial arts and also knows techniques like Aragami and Dokugami. He can be seen training with Kyo and Saisyu in one of the ending scenes of KOF '98.
