Jubei Yamada is a playable character in the Fatal Fury series of fighting games, first appearing in Fatal Fury 2 and returning in its update, Fatal Fury Special. In the past, Jubei Yamada was such a fierce Judo warrior, that the prowess and skill that he released in his matches earned him the nickname of "The Demon". His young spirit and burning will was admired and respected by those who saw his fights. However, time has passed, and now he is a giddy old man who enjoys eating cookies, taking care of his dojo, and guiding his students. He lives a peaceful life alongside his old friend and rival, Hanzo Shiranui, a Ninjitsu master and expert in Koppo-ken. Hanzo had been training his granddaughter Mai Shiranui, but when Andy Bogard came to learn Koppo-ken, Hanzo entrusted Mai's training to Jubei. Jubei saw potential in Andy to become a superb fighter, but Andy had more important things to attend to. Despite his age, Jubei maintains a youthful spirit and is always eager for action, frequently appearing in fighting arenas. He also embodies the "lecherous old man" stereotype, sometimes peeping on young women. In Fatal Fury, Jubei is a Judo master whose fighting style is based on throws, and he throws Japanese crackers as projectiles. While Jubei is not a regular in The King of Fighters (ザ・キング・オブ・ファイターズ) series, he has an indirect connection to it. The King of Fighters is a fighting game series by SNK, originally set as a fighting tournament based on the storylines of the Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting series. As a character from Fatal Fury, Jubei is indirectly mentioned within the King of Fighters universe.
