Charlotte Christine de Colde, also known as Charlotte, is a recurring character in the *Samurai Shodown* series. She was introduced in the original *Samurai Shodown*, was absent after *Samurai Shodown II*, but returned in *Samurai Shodown IV*, similar to Tam Tam and Jubei Yagyu. She is a minor French noble who prefers the company of commoners. While traveling through the French countryside, she hears of a series of unnatural calamities. She leaves her home to investigate, eventually traveling to Japan to fight Amakusa, the source of the evil plaguing her country. Afterwards, she returns to France to take part in the French Revolution. In *Samurai Shodown II*, she discovers Ambrosia is the source of malice occurring worldwide, and journeys again to defeat the deity. She greatly admired Haohmaru but ended her affections when she saw his lover, Oshizu. She returns to Japan for similar reasons in her other appearances.
Charlotte is known for her proud demeanor and is considered somewhat manly by her countrymen due to her soldier-like manner of speaking. Although harsh and boastful during fights, Charlotte is a gentle and generous wanderer who deeply loves her country. She typically avoids feminine attire, though she will dress in it if necessary. She is known for her unique fencing style, with attacks revolving around long-range stabs to avoid body contact. Her most powerful move is a three-point slash forming a triangle, inflicting considerable damage and providing unexpected angles. Her character design is loosely based on Oscar François de Jarjayes from the manga *The Rose of Versailles*, and incorporates elements of the 18th-century historical figure Chevalier d'Eon.
