  • Japanese: カン・ベダル
  • English: Kang Bae Dal
Kang Bae Dal (カン・ベダル) is a character first introduced in The King of Fighters 2000 as Jhun Hoon's Another Striker. Bae Dal is actually a prototype of Jhun Hoon; as such, he has no actual backstory. He may be named after the protagonist of Fight Fever, Han Baedal, but the more likely source is real-life karate master Mas Oyama's old nickname, Choi Baedal, which he used to show his Korean heritage. Kang Bae Dal's stance is similar to one of Jhun's, suggesting he is also a Taekwondo fighter. He primarily appears in the game as a striker, capable of unleashing moves like a tornado attack. The character is voiced by Eiji Takemoto. In the King of Fighters series, while Kang Bae Dal lacks his own independent storyline, his inclusion adds a layer of fun and nostalgia to the game, paying homage to SNK's earlier fighting games and historical figures. His uniqueness lies in being a prototype character who has become an independent entity, offering an alternative for players.
