Albert Wesker (Japanese: アルバート・ウェスカー, Arubāto Wesukā) is a primary antagonist in the Resident Evil (Biohazard/バイオハザード) series. Initially the captain of Raccoon City's Special Tactics and Rescue Service (S.T.A.R.S.), he is secretly a double agent working for the Umbrella Corporation. Wesker is known for his betrayals, faking his own death, and obtaining superhuman abilities. His goal is to advance human evolution and achieve world domination through viruses and bio-weapons. He possesses genius-level intellect, martial arts and marksmanship skills, enhanced by superhuman speed, strength, and regeneration after injecting himself with an experimental virus. Characterized by his cold, ruthless demeanor and signature sunglasses, Wesker is one of the most iconic and memorable villains in the series. He plays a significant role in numerous games, ultimately being defeated by Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar in Resident Evil 5.
