Rebecca Chambers, (Japanese: レベッカ・チェンバース, Rebekka Chenbāsu) is a prominent character in the Resident Evil (Japanese: バイオハザード, Biohazard) series. She first appeared as a supporting character in the original Resident Evil (1996) and later became the protagonist in the prequel, Resident Evil Zero (2002). Rebecca is a young officer of the Special Tactics and Rescue Service (S.T.A.R.S.) of the Raccoon City Police Department, serving as the team's medic with expertise in biochemistry, and also responsible for rear security. A chemistry prodigy who graduated from college at the age of 18, she is also a courageous action-oriented individual who maintains composure in dangerous situations. In Resident Evil Zero, Rebecca partners with escaped convict Billy Coen to survive a facility overrun by zombies and mutated creatures, uncovering the plot of James Marcus. Subsequently, she has appeared in numerous titles, including Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles and Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition, and as a professor in the animated film Resident Evil: Vendetta, researching viral cures.
