Walter Sullivan

Walter Sullivan is the main antagonist of Silent Hill 4: The Room. He is an infamous serial killer who murdered at least nineteen people (including two children), and a religious fanatic due to the Order's beliefs being imposed upon him as a child. Attempting to fulfill a macabre ritual called the 21 Sacraments, his life's goal was to cleanse the world of its sins. As a young boy, Walter considered the apartment room he was born in to be his "mother". In reality, both his mother and father had abandoned him at birth. He was raised in the Wish House Orphanage near Silent Hill where he was indoctrinated into the teachings of the Order. He was told that his mother was "asleep" in an apartment in Ashfield, and believed that performing the 21 Sacraments would wake her up. This misconception led him to view Room 302 as his mother. He was indoctrinated into the belief that humanity and the world were evil and corrupt, and that killing was necessary to cleanse the world and bring about a new world. He believed he was justified in making sacrifices and reuniting with his mother through the ritual. He eventually committed a series of horrifying crimes, killing numerous people in his quest for a “purification” of what he deemed to be an evil world.
