Sewer Fairy

Original Title:下水道の妖精

Languages:

  • Chinese: 下水道的仙女
  • Japanese: 下水道の妖精
  • English: Sewer Fairy
The Sewer Fairy is an optional, hidden non-player character in Silent Hill 3, encountered in the underpass during an Extra New Game, after completing the game at least once. To trigger the encounter, players must kill a creature in the sewer with the hairdryer, examine the water, and throw the steel pipe into it. The Sewer Fairy will then appear and ask questions; answering honestly rewards the player with gold and silver pipes, which are identical to the steel pipe except for their color. The encounter is an Easter egg referencing Aesop’s fable, ‘The Honest Woodcutter’. Despite the Sewer Fairy calling the protagonist (Heather) a ‘truly honest man’, the original subtitles incorrectly state ‘truly honest man’. This is corrected in the Silent Hill HD Collection to ‘truly honest person’, while the subtitles remain unaltered. The character was designed by Hiro Usuda.
