Henry Townshend

Henry Townshend is the protagonist of Silent Hill 4: The Room. He is an ordinary man living in Room 302 of the South Ashfield Heights apartments. At the start of the game, Henry finds himself locked in his apartment with no means of escape, and a mysterious hole appears in his bathroom wall, leading to various otherworlds. Within these otherworlds, Henry begins to uncover the story of a serial killer named Walter Sullivan and his attempt to complete the '21 Sacraments' ritual. Henry becomes entangled in this supernatural affair and finds he is the final sacrifice, the 'Receiver of Wisdom'. He is introverted, quiet, and doesn't express his feelings openly, but he shows great altruism, always trying to help others he encounters. A keen photographer and collector of information, Henry visited Silent Hill multiple times as a child and an adult, with many of his photos displayed in his apartment. Unlike other Silent Hill protagonists, Henry's predicament is not due to personal sins or supernatural affairs, but a mere 'coincidence' of choosing the wrong apartment, yet his confrontation with Walter forces him to change.
