Sam Bartlett

Sam Bartlett is a major antagonist in *Silent Hill: Homecoming*, where he serves as the mayor of Shepherd's Glen. Descended from one of the town's founding families, Bartlett sacrificed his own son, Joey, to fulfill a pact with the Silent Hill cult known as The Order. In the game's narrative, Bartlett descends into alcoholism and grave-digging, plagued by guilt over his actions. When the protagonist, Alex, confronts him in the Otherworld of Silent Hill, Bartlett refuses to answer questions about Joey's whereabouts. After Alex presents a broken watch found in the Bartlett family mausoleum, Bartlett throws it away, and it's absorbed by the soil. Consequently, Sepulcher, a demonic manifestation of Joey, appears and kills Bartlett. Once a respected figure in the community, Bartlett's actions lead to his tragic demise. He serves as an example of a seemingly respectable authority figure whose past sins lead to his downfall.
