Murphy Pendleton

Murphy Pendleton is the protagonist of Silent Hill: Downpour and a character in Anne's Story. At the beginning of the game, little is known about his early life, except that he was an orphan and grew up at an orphanage similar to St. Maria's Monastery. He is prisoner number RS 273A and was arrested and imprisoned at Ryall State Prison for car theft, resisting arrest, and evading the police force, according to Frank Coleridge. This led to the events of Downpour and Murphy's adventure into Silent Hill. Morphy has medium-length brown hair, asymmetrically parted in the middle, and brown eyes. He has slight stubble and a bloody horizontal cut on his right upper cheek. Upon entering Silent Hill, he changes into clothes similar to what he wore the day his son died. Murphy's personality is left largely ambiguous, as many player decisions, such as saving Anne and consoling JP, ultimately affect the telling of critical events of Murphy's past. Murphy displays a complex character, showing both a soft and tormented side, as well as a capacity for resilience and vengeance, all stemming from the tragedy of his son's murder.
