Ariadne Johnson

Ariadne Johnson is a character mentioned in Silent Hill: Downpour. She was an eight-year-old autistic girl. Due to her frequent tendency to get lost, her mother, Amy, would tie colored ribbons to streetlights to help her navigate her way home from school. Ariadne had an intense aversion to the color blue. One day, while walking home from school, she strayed from her path and went missing. It was later revealed that her mother, tired of caring for her, deliberately moved the ribbons, guiding her to a nearby dock where she fell into the water and drowned. Amy then went into hiding after writing a confession. Ariadne's story may symbolize the protagonist Murphy's guilt, as he seems to blame himself for his son's death. Furthermore, her and her mother's story may simply be a manifestation of the Otherworld in Silent Hill, symbolizing Murphy's deep-seated guilt and pain.
