Groaner

The Groaner, also known as Canine Monster (Type A), is an enemy appearing in the Silent Hill series. These creatures represent Alessa Gillespie's strong dislike of dogs. They are large, hairless dog-like monsters with rotten, brown skin and large jaws. Their physique is similar to that of a greyhound, which contributes to their speed. Groaners typically appear in outdoor areas and are sensitive to sound, attacking Harry Mason upon sight or hearing. They move quickly, attempting to bite or lunge at their prey. Despite their smaller size, hitting them with melee weapons can be challenging, making firearms more effective. However, avoiding them is generally preferable due to their persistence. They are a common enemy in the Silent Hill alternate world, often signaling danger with their presence.
