Toro is the name of two fictional characters appearing in Marvel Comics. The first Toro is Thomas Raymond, who initially appeared in Timely Comics and later as a Marvel Comics superhero, the partner of the original Human Torch. Thomas was born in New York City to parents who were laboratory assistants to Professor Phineas Horton, and who suffered from illnesses due to long-term exposure to asbestos and radium. Thomas inherited a genetic mutation from his parents, making him immune to fire. After his parents died, he was adopted by a circus and nicknamed "Toro" (Spanish for "bull"). When he met the original Human Torch, his flame powers fully emerged. During World War II, Toro joined the Invaders with the Human Torch. Originally thought to be a mutant, he was later retconned to possess a recessive Inhuman gene that could be activated by Terrigen Mists. His abilities include generating flames and flying, largely mimicking the Human Torch. Additionally, Toro is a member of the Young Allies. The other Toro is Benito Serrano, a member of the Young Allies from the 'normal' Earth-616 universe. The second Toro can also transform into a minotaur-like humanoid with super strength and the ability to leap great distances. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Toro is the name of a Rottweiler owned by Joy Meachum.
