Black Knight is the alias of several fictional characters appearing in Marvel Comics. The original Black Knight was Sir Percy of Scandia, a 6th-century knight from the time of King Arthur, who wielded the Ebony Blade forged by the wizard Merlin. In modern times, the title has been passed down to Percy's descendants, most notably Nathan Garrett (a villain) and his nephew Dane Whitman. Dane Whitman is the third Black Knight, a scientist and superhero, and a former member of the Avengers. He utilizes various weapons, including the Ebony Blade, a laser sword, and the Shield of Night, and often rides a winged horse named Aragorn. The story of the Black Knight is filled with magic, adventure, and a family curse, as Dane Whitman constantly struggles against the dark power of the Ebony Blade while striving to be a true hero. In recent years, the Black Knight has also appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, portrayed by Kit Harington.
