Cable, also known as Nathan Christopher Charles Summers, is a fictional character in Marvel Comics. He is commonly associated with X-Force and the X-Men. He first appeared as the infant Nathan in *The Uncanny X-Men* #201 (Jan. 1986) and later as the warrior Cable in *The New Mutants* #87 (March 1990). Cable is the son of X-Men member Cyclops (Scott Summers) and his first wife, Madelyne Pryor (a clone of Jean Grey), and the 'half'-brother of Rachel Summers from the 'Days of Future Past' timeline and Nate Grey from the 'Age of Apocalypse' timeline. He is also the genetic template of the mutant terrorist Stryfe and the adoptive father of Hope Summers. Born in the present day, Nathan was infected with a deadly techno-organic virus as an infant. He was sent to a possible future timeline for treatment. In that future world, Nathan grew into the warrior Cable and became an enemy of the villain Apocalypse. He later returned to the present day, working alongside the X-Men and reforming the New Mutants into the original X-Force. He has had frequent battles with the near-invincible assassin Deadpool, who later became his on-again, off-again ally. Cable possesses potent telepathic and telekinetic powers, along with expertise in various weaponry and combat techniques. He can use these abilities to manipulate technology, travel through time, and fight against threats. A complex character in the Marvel Universe, he is known for his strong will, conflicted nature, and tragic backstory.
