The Guardsman is a fictional character name appearing in Marvel Comics, initially referring to an individual wearing power armor, and later to a squad of agents working security at the Vault prison. The original Guardsman was Kevin O'Brien, an engineer working for Stark Industries. Tony Stark created a suit of power armor for him, but a flaw in the armor's control system triggered Kevin's rage and jealousy, leading to a conflict with Iron Man and ultimately his death in an accident. Kevin's brother, Michael O'Brien, later donned the armor, seeking revenge for his brother, but eventually became an ally of Iron Man after learning the truth. Subsequently, Stark repaired the armor, and Michael worked as security chief at Project Pegasus. In addition, other characters have also used the "Guardsman" identity, including Ozkar Waters. The Guardsman armor grants superhuman strength, flight, and energy weapons capabilities, but the early versions had a flaw that could lead to mental instability. The guards at the Vault prison also used Guardsman armor, which was later destroyed by Iron Man and then rebuilt. Overall, the Guardsman refers both to individuals and a team of security personnel in powered armor.
