Rogue, whose real name is Anna Marie, is a prominent fictional superheroine in Marvel Comics, commonly associated with the X-Men. She first appeared as a villain in Avengers Annual #10 (1981) before joining the X-Men. Rogue is a mutant with the ability to absorb the life force, attributes, memories, and superpowers of others through physical contact. This ability was initially uncontrollable, making it difficult for her to form close relationships and she often regarded it as a curse. Formerly a member of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, she later joined the X-Men under the guidance of Professor X, learning to control her powers. Rogue possesses various superpowers derived from her absorption abilities, such as the super strength, flight, and near-invulnerability she gained from Ms. Marvel, and she has also absorbed the powers of other heroes. Her relationships with her teammates are complex, particularly her romance with Gambit and her connection to her foster mother, Mystique. Rogue has been adapted in various media, including film, television, and video games, and is known for her distinctive Southern accent, white streak of hair, and signature gloves. She is considered one of the most popular and powerful female heroes in the Marvel Universe and is often listed as a core member of the X-Men.
