Silver Surfer

The Silver Surfer, originally named Norrin Radd, is a fictional character in Marvel Comics, first appearing in Fantastic Four #48 in 1966. He was originally an astronomer from the planet Zenn-La who volunteered to become the herald of Galactus, a cosmic being who consumes planets, in order to save his homeworld from destruction. In exchange, he was granted the Power Cosmic and given a silver surfboard-like vehicle that allows him to travel through space at faster-than-light speeds. The Silver Surfer served Galactus by seeking out worlds for him to consume, but after arriving on Earth and encountering the Fantastic Four, he was moved by humanity's goodness and rebelled against Galactus, ultimately being exiled to Earth as punishment. He is a complex character with immense power, yet burdened by the loss of his home and a sense of responsibility to the universe. Throughout the Marvel universe, the Silver Surfer has allied with various heroes, becoming a significant figure.
