Swordsman, whose real name is Jacques Duquesne, is a character in Marvel Comics. He initially appeared as a villain, serving as a mentor to Hawkeye, but later also acted as a superhero. He is a master swordsman with various combat skills, possessing no superpowers but excelling in physical abilities. Duquesne's weapon is a modified sword capable of firing concussive blasts, energy beams, flames, and electrical currents. He has been a member of various villainous groups, such as the Lethal Legion and the Emissaries of Evil, as well as a member of the Avengers. His character is complex, having an idealistic side while also being prone to gambling and alcoholism. He has a complicated relationship with the Avengers, particularly Hawkeye, as both a mentor and an enemy. He sacrificed himself to protect his love, Mantis, during a mission. Later, his corpse was resurrected and exploited by the alien plant race Cotati before he eventually died again. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the series "Hawkeye" features a character named Jack Duquesne, portrayed by Tony Dalton. However, this version differs from the comic book character, being a socialite with underworld connections and not Hawkeye's mentor.
