Blackheart is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. He is usually depicted as an adversary to the superhero Ghost Rider. Created by writer Ann Nocenti and artist John Romita Jr., Blackheart first appeared in *Daredevil* #270 (September 1989). Blackheart is the son of the demon lord Mephisto, created from the accumulated evil energy of the Christ's Crown area. He possesses vast supernatural powers, including superhuman strength, speed, and endurance, as well as telekinetic and telepathic abilities. Blackheart has repeatedly tried to corrupt or defeat heroes such as Daredevil, Spider-Man, and Ghost Rider. He has often contested with his father, Mephisto, for control of Hell, briefly ruling a portion of it himself. In addition to the comics, Blackheart has appeared in the 2007 film *Ghost Rider*, portrayed by Wes Bentley, and in several video games, such as *Marvel vs. Capcom 2*. In the film, he differs from his comic appearance, appearing in a human form as he seeks the Contract of San Venganza to obtain the power of a thousand souls.
