Kang the Conqueror and Iron Lad are complex time-traveling characters in Marvel Comics, deeply intertwined. Kang, whose real name is Nathaniel Richards, is a scholar from the future (30th century Earth-6311) who uses time travel to become Kang the Conqueror. He has adopted various identities, including Rama-Tut, Immortus, and the Scarlet Centurion. He is a formidable villain with expertise in strategy, time travel, and future technology. Iron Lad is a younger version of Nathaniel Richards, who, after being shown his future atrocities by Kang, becomes horrified by his destiny and flees to the past in an attempt to prevent his future self. He creates his Iron Lad armor based on Iron Man and assembles the Young Avengers. He fights alongside the Young Avengers to change his fate, but ultimately must return to the future to save the timeline, possibly becoming Kang. Their relationship is a complex cycle: young Iron Lad attempts to avoid becoming Kang, while future Kang tries to guide his younger self toward his destined path. Their interaction is filled with temporal paradoxes and conflicts of fate.
