Big Hero 6 is a fictional superhero team created by Marvel Comics, first appearing in Sunfire & Big Hero 6 #1 in 1998. The team was created by Steven T. Seagle and Duncan Rouleau, and was originally intended to debut in Alpha Flight, but due to scheduling conflicts, their self-titled miniseries was published first. The core members include Silver Samurai, Sunfire, Go Go Tomago, Honey Lemon, Hiro Takachiho (a young genius), and his robotic bodyguard Baymax. Initially formed by the Japanese government as a state-sanctioned superhero team, their stories combine superhero action with themes of technology and youth. Later, Marvel Comics launched a new Big Hero 6 miniseries in 2008, redesigning the characters and adding two original members: Wasabi-No-Ginger and Fredzilla. The team has made appearances in other Marvel comics such as Alpha Flight and Spider-Man. In 2014, Walt Disney Animation Studios adapted Big Hero 6 into an animated film. While retaining core themes and character concepts, the film made significant story changes for the big screen. The film's success has further popularized Big Hero 6, leading to a TV series and various merchandise.
