The Thunderbolts are a team of antiheroes/supervillains/superheroes appearing in Marvel Comics. Created by Kurt Busiek and Mark Bagley, they first appeared in The Incredible Hulk #449 in 1997. The team is known for its complex history and ever-changing roster. Initially, the Thunderbolts were the Masters of Evil disguised as superheroes by Baron Zemo to gain public trust, but some members later embraced heroism. Over time, the Thunderbolts have gone through several iterations, including teams led by Hawkeye, Luke Cage, and the Winter Soldier, as well as teams under the control of Norman Osborn and Wilson Fisk. Their members are typically antiheroes and supervillains seeking redemption or operating on the fringes of the law. Themes of redemption, power, and the blurred lines between heroes and villains are often explored within the Thunderbolts. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Thunderbolts will also appear as an antihero team, consisting of Yelena Belova, the Winter Soldier, Red Guardian, US Agent, Taskmaster, and Ghost, led by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
