X-Force is a team of superheroes in Marvel Comics, often associated with the X-Men. Conceived by writer/illustrator Rob Liefeld, the team first appeared in New Mutants #100 (April 1991) and soon had its own series, X-Force. Originally, the team was a revamped version of the 1980s team, the New Mutants. X-Force's first leader was the mutant Cable. An offshoot of the X-Men, X-Force takes a more militant and aggressive approach towards its enemies compared to the X-Men. Over time, X-Force has undergone several reorganizations and changes in its membership. Members have included, but are not limited to: Cable, Cannonball, Domino, Wolverine, X-23, and Psylocke. X-Force has also appeared in different incarnations in films, such as in the 2018 movie Deadpool 2, where an alternate version of X-Force appeared as part of the X-Men film series. X-Force was very successful in the early 1990s, and its popularity remained steady after Liefeld's departure. X-Force is known for its distinctive fighting style and the complexity of its members, and it plays an important role in the Marvel universe.
