Wanda is a fairy character who first appeared in the Super Famicom game, *Mario & Wario*. In the game's storyline, she is the fabled subject of a mythical forest. When Mario is attacked by Wario in her domain, she takes it upon herself to guide him to safety. In *Mario & Wario*, the player controls Wanda using the Super Famicom Mouse, creating safe pathways for the aimlessly wandering Princess Peach, Mario, and Yoshi, who have had buckets and other objects dropped on their heads by Wario. Wanda uses her magic wand to alter the surroundings and clear obstacles. She also appears in the *Super Mario-Kun* manga series and as a support spirit in *Super Smash Bros. Ultimate*. She wields a hammer in mini-games to hit Wario's plane for coins. She is also considered the guardian of Yōsei no Mori. The Fairy Princess, also part of the Super Mario series, often has a broader role and appears in different storylines. Unlike Wanda, she typically serves as a supporting character or quest giver during Mario's adventures. The Fairy Princess's specific information varies across games but is generally portrayed as a magical being living in enchanted forests or similar settings. She may offer aid or essential information during Mario's journeys and sometimes needs rescuing. Thus, while Wanda and the Fairy Princess both involve the "fairy" concept, their roles and backgrounds within the Super Mario series differ.
