E. Gadd

Professor Elvin Gadd, commonly known as E. Gadd or Doctor Oya Mā (オヤ・マー博士), is a prominent character in the *Mario* franchise. He is an eccentric and brilliant scientist and inventor, specializing in the study of ghosts. E. Gadd debuted in *Luigi's Mansion* and is the founder of Gadd Science, Incorporated. He communicates in ambiguous gibberish (voiced by Kazumi Totaka) and frequently uses phrases such as "criminy" and "hullabaloo." His name is derived from the exclamation "egad!" E. Gadd's most notable invention is the Poltergust series of vacuums, a powerful tool for capturing ghosts, used by Luigi in the *Luigi's Mansion* series. Besides his key role in the *Luigi's Mansion* games, E. Gadd has appeared in other *Mario* titles, such as the *Mario & Luigi* series and *Mario Party* series. He also runs the Starbeans Cafe and provides Mario and Luigi with items and assistance. E. Gadd is recognized by his unique look with large, circular glasses, a tuft of white hair, and a white lab coat, making him one of the most memorable characters in the *Mario* franchise.
