Plessie

Plessie is a friendly character from the *Super Mario* series, first appearing in *Super Mario 3D World* and *Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury*. It is a large, friendly dinosaur or plesiosaur that allows up to four players to ride it through certain levels or sections, similar to Dorrie in *Super Mario 64*. Plessie's name is a portmanteau of 'plesiosaur' and 'Nessie,' though its design more closely resembles a bipedal nothosaur. In the game, players control Plessie's movement and speed by tilting the control stick, and can use the jump button to make it jump. In *Bowser's Fury*, Plessie plays a more prominent role, helping Mario travel across Lake Lapcat. Plessie's design shares some features with Yoshi, such as its bipedal stance, white soft tissue on its underbelly, and large oval eyes. The character's gender is interpreted differently across various language versions, but is typically referred to as male in English. Plessie also appears as a support spirit in *Super Smash Bros. Ultimate* and in the *Super Mario Party* series.
