Spike

Original Titleトゲゾー

Languages:

  • Chinese: 飘飘花
  • English: Spike
  • Japanese: トゲゾー
Spike and トゲゾー (known as Spiny in English) are recurring enemies in the Super Mario series. Spike first appeared in Super Mario Bros. 3, typically depicted with a green body, a small black shell with a white border, and a light-blue tuft of hair. Its main attack involves spitting out spiked balls and rolling them towards Mario or Luigi. トゲゾー, debuting in Super Mario Bros., is a four-legged turtle with a red, spiky shell. A key feature is that it cannot be defeated by stomping and will actually cause damage, while it can be easily defeated by fireballs or other means. Both Spike and トゲゾー appear in various forms throughout the series, such as Spike sometimes throwing other objects and トゲゾー’s shell often being used as items or obstacles. They feature different variations and attack patterns across numerous Mario games, adding challenge and variety. Spike even appears as a playable character in Mario Party 10. トゲゾー frequently appears in tandem with Lakitu.
