The Mondragón M1908 is an early semi-automatic rifle designed by Mexican General Manuel Mondragón and manufactured by the Swiss company SIG. Adopted by the Mexican Army in 1908 as the "Fusil Porfirio Díaz Sistema Mondragón Modelo 1908", it features a gas-operated system, a rotating bolt, and a spring-piston mechanism, which were considered advanced for its time. Although Mexico canceled subsequent orders due to political instability and high costs, the rifle was used by the German Air Force as the "Flieger-Selbstladekarabiner Modell 1915," equipped with 30-round drum magazines. In the game "Girls' Frontline," the Mondragón M1908 is anthropomorphized as a strict, rule-abiding tactical doll known as “Mond”. She has extensive combat experience and corrects other dolls' mistakes with harsh methods. A recruitable character in the game, she possesses multiple costumes and plays a significant role in the story. Furthermore, the rifle's real-world counterpart is historically significant as one of the first semi-automatic rifles to be adopted by a national military.
