McKinley

McKinley is a character in One Piece, initially the captain of the White Berets, Skypiea's police force, and later a member of God's Guards. He first appears as a minor antagonist in the Skypiea Arc but later becomes an (indirect) ally to the Straw Hat Pirates. McKinley is a tall, well-built Skypiean man with typical wings and a small scar under his left eye. He wears the standard White Beret uniform, including the namesake beret, a short-sleeved shirt, cloud-patterned flared-hip jodhpurs, and black boots. After the two-year timeskip, he sports a goatee and his uniform bears the letters "GG" (God's Guards). Initially loyal to Enel, McKinley reveals he was only following orders to protect Skypiea's citizens when Enel planned its destruction. He then helps Conis evacuate the island. As captain, McKinley is a skilled commander, as seen when he coordinated the evacuation of Angel Island. He initially opposed the Straw Hat Pirates, attempting to fine and arrest them, but eventually chose to aid the Skypieans. McKinley's interactions with the Straw Hats differ slightly between manga and anime. In the anime, his initial encounters are expanded, featuring scenes of him being knocked out by Nami with a waver and receiving medical treatment at Conis's house. Overall, McKinley is a complex character who develops from an initial antagonist to an eventual supporter.
