Shimotsuki Yasuie is a significant character in One Piece, formerly the daimyo of the Hakumai region in Wano Country. He was deeply loved by his people and known for his loyalty to the Kozuki family and his spirit of sacrifice. During the tumultuous times ruled by Kurozumi Orochi and Kaido, he lived under the alias "Tonoyasu," working as a taikomochi (drummer) in the slums while secretly supporting the resistance. He not only generously helped the poor but also sacrificed his own life to protect the Kozuki family's secret plans. During his public execution, he openly mocked Orochi, claiming that the so-called resistance message was a joke he had created, thus misleading the enemy and allowing the resistance forces to gather. Yasuie was ultimately executed by Orochi. His loyalty and sacrifice profoundly inspired the resistance in Wano, and his actions had a deep impact on the Straw Hat crew's actions. Despite his comical appearance and the perpetual smile caused by eating a failed SMILE fruit, he was a great leader and a devoted individual at heart.
