Hannyabal (ハンニャバル) is a character in the manga series *One Piece*. He first appears as the Vice Warden of Impel Down, the underwater prison, and is later promoted to Warden after a two-year timeskip. He is a large, pot-bellied man who resembles a mix between a devil and an Egyptian pharaoh, sporting horned eyebrows, a pharaoh's beard-like chin, and a headdress. Hannyabal is ambitious, often letting slip his desire to replace Magellan as the Chief Warden, but he also has a strong sense of duty and a desire to protect innocent citizens. While somewhat comical at times, he can be stern and remains unaffected by Boa Hancock’s charm. Hannyabal is skilled with his double-bladed naginata called "Kessui," which he can ignite with flames. Despite not being well-known among prisoners, he is highly regarded by the guards and is considered the second most powerful force in Impel Down, after Magellan. He has repeatedly tried to stop escaping prisoners and has even shown significant power and resilience against Luffy. Overall, Hannyabal is a complex character with both ambition and a sense of justice.
