Thatch, also known as "Captain Thatch", was the 4th division commander and culinary chef of the Whitebeard Pirates in One Piece. He is known for his tall stature, light brown pompadour hairstyle, and goatee. He also has a stitched scar around his left eye, reminiscent of Garp. Thatch often dressed in a posh uniform with calf-length pants and a black belt. He was a jovial and affable character, one of the friendlier and more sociable commanders of Whitebeard's crew. Thatch was particularly close with Ace, and the two often went on adventures together. However, his fate was tragic. He discovered the Dark-Dark Fruit, which Blackbeard had long desired, and was murdered by Teach to obtain it. Thatch's death was a pivotal point in the One Piece story, directly leading to the Marineford War. Despite his early demise, he holds a significant place in the Whitebeard Pirates' legend, remembered as both a skilled chef and fighter. His death also fueled Ace's unsuccessful quest for revenge against Blackbeard.
