Marshall D. Teach

Marshall D. Teach, also known as Blackbeard, is a major antagonist in the manga and anime series *One Piece*. Initially a member of the Whitebeard Pirates' second division, he betrayed the crew and murdered Thatch, the fourth division commander, to obtain the Dark-Dark Fruit. After establishing his own crew, the Blackbeard Pirates, he quickly rose to become one of the Four Emperors. Teach wields the power of both the Dark-Dark Fruit and the Tremor-Tremor Fruit, making him an incredibly formidable foe. Cunning, ambitious, and ruthless, he is one of the greatest obstacles to Luffy's dream of becoming the Pirate King. He briefly held the title of Warlord of the Sea but abandoned it for his own purposes, recruiting several infamous prisoners from Impel Down into his ranks. His actions sparked the Summit War of Marineford, during which he stole Whitebeard’s Tremor-Tremor Fruit powers, becoming the only known person with two devil fruit abilities. Teach's rise has significantly impacted the plot of *One Piece*.
