The series is set in a world where humans co-exist with beastmen, a branch of humanity who can transform into humanoid animals due to a "beast factor" in their DNA. The story follows Michiru Kagemori, a young girl who suddenly transforms into a tanuki beastman and seeks refuge in Anima City, a haven for beastmen. There, she meets Shirou Ogami, a wolf beastman, and together they investigate the cause of Michiru's transformation while navigating a conspiracy involving a pharmaceutical company and the origins of Anima City. The anime premiered on Fuji TV's +Ultra programming block in Japan from April to June 2020 and was released worldwide on Netflix. The series has also spawned manga and novel adaptations.
