Tohoku Kiritan (東北きりたん) is a Japanese virtual character created by SSS LLC. and co-developed by AH-Software Co. Ltd. She has multiple voicebanks, including UTAU, VOICEROID+ EX, NEUTRINO, and CeVIO AI, enabling her to sing and synthesize speech. Her voice provider is Himika Akaneya. Created to revitalize the Tohoku region after the devastating 2011 tsunami, she is the younger sister of Tohoku Zunko. Kiritan's UTAU voicebank was successfully crowdfunded in 2014, followed by her VOICEROID+ EX voicebank in 2016. She is recognized as the first NEUTRINO voicebank with an official profile, personality, and backstory, earning her the nickname "AI Kiritan." In February 2021, she released her CeVIO AI Song voicebank. Kiritan is portrayed as an 11-year-old fifth grader, born on February 13. Unlike her sisters, she has an introverted personality, preferring to stay indoors playing video games. Her dream is to make her sister Zunko a Japanese idol. Her name comes from the Japanese dish kiritanpo.
