Khayyam

Original Title海亚姆

Languages:

  • Chinese: 海亚姆
  • Japanese: ハイヤーム
  • English: Khayyam
Khayyam is an elderly scholar in the Sumeru region of Genshin Impact, closely tied to the "Agnihotra Sutra" questline and its follow-up quests in the Aranyaka world quest series. He is typically found near the large mushroom in Mawtiyima Forest, initially appearing as a mysterious old man. Formerly a scholar of Amurta Biology at the Akademiya, he retired due to his old age and memory loss. Khayyam has a special connection with the Aranara, having been friends with them in the past, but both have gradually forgotten each other over time. In the storyline, Khayyam commissions the Traveler to investigate flowers, and he is linked to the Aranara's memories. His past is also connected to another sage, Siman Farrokhzad; they were childhood friends, but later had a falling out due to differing ideologies. Khayyam's backstory and experiences add depth to the Sumeru storyline and prompt players to ponder themes of time and memory.
