Guyver: The Bioboosted Armor (強殖装甲ガイバー), is a Japanese anime series based on the long-running manga series Bio Booster Armor Guyver by Yoshiki Takaya. The series, which premiered in 2005, is a remake of the 12-episode OVA series, The Guyver: Bio-Booster Armor (1989-1992), and adapts a larger portion of the manga, specifically the first 10 volumes (chapters 1-60). The story follows high school student Sho Fukamachi, who accidentally merges with a mysterious "Guyver" unit and becomes Guyver I. He must fight against the evil Chronos Corporation and their bio-engineered soldiers, the Zoanoids, while uncovering the secrets behind the Guyver units and the Chronos Corporation. The anime series aired in Japan from August 6, 2005, to February 18, 2006, and later in North America on the FUNimation Channel on December 20, 2010. Compared to the earlier OVA, the 2005 series has character designs and plot points that are more closely based on the manga. For instance, the main character, Sho Fukamachi's hair color was changed from black to brown, while Mizuki Segawa's hair color changed from brown to black. The narrative is also more comprehensive, incorporating new events and characters absent from the earlier animated series.
