When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace

"When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace" (Japanese: 異能バトルは日常系のなかで, Inō-Batoru wa Nichijō-kei no Naka de), also known as "Inou-Battle Within Everyday Life" or "InoBato," is a Japanese light novel series written by Kōta Nozomi and illustrated by 029. The story revolves around five members of the Senkō High School Literature Club: Jurai Andou, Tomoyo Kanzaki, Hatoko Kushikawa, Sayumi Takanashi, and Chifuyu Himeki, who suddenly acquire supernatural powers. Despite these powers, their daily lives remain relatively unchanged. Jurai can produce black flames, which are essentially useless; Tomoyo can manipulate time; Hatoko controls the five elements; Sayumi can repair objects and heal living things; and Chifuyu can create objects. The story explores why they received these powers and whether the heroic fantasy life they imagined will ever come true. The light novel series was published by SB Creative under their GA Bunko imprint from 2012 to 2018, totaling 13 volumes. A manga adaptation illustrated by Kōsuke Kurose was serialized in Kadokawa Shoten's Comp Ace from September 2013 to February 2015. A 12-episode anime television series adaptation by Trigger aired from October to December 2014.
