Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans (Japanese: 機動戦士ガンダム 鉄血のオルフェンズ) is a Japanese mecha anime television series produced by Sunrise and part of the Gundam franchise. The story is set approximately 300 years after a major conflict known as the "Calamity War". The Mars colonies are seeking independence from Earth’s rule. The protagonist, Mikazuki Augus, is a member of the private security company CGS. During an escort mission, he and a group of child soldiers rebel against the adults who betrayed them, forming a mercenary organization called Tekkadan. Mikazuki pilots the ancient mobile suit Gundam Barbatos, and together with his comrades in Tekkadan, they fight to survive amidst the flames of war. The series deals with real-life issues such as war, slavery, child soldiers, poverty, colonialism, and corruption. The first season aired from October 2015 to March 2016, and the second season aired from October 2016 to April 2017, totaling 50 episodes. In addition to the anime, there are manga, video games, and a spin-off mobile game, Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans Urdr-Hunt.
