The series is set in a historical depiction of Europe during the Viking Age, and it primarily follows the story of Thorfinn as he seeks revenge for his father’s death by joining Askeladd's mercenary band and develops throughout his journey. Initially serialized in Kodansha's youth-targeted Weekly Shōnen Magazine, it later moved to the monthly manga magazine Afternoon. As of June 2024, the series has been collected into 28 tankōbon volumes and is licensed in English by Kodansha Comics USA.
