"Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl" (Japanese: 青春ブタ野郎はゆめみる少女の夢を見ない) is an animated film adaptation of the sixth and seventh volumes of the "Rascal Does Not Dream" light novel series. Set in Fujisawa, the story follows Sakuta Azusagawa's peaceful life with his girlfriend Mai Sakurajima, which is disrupted by the appearance of Sakuta's first love, Shoko Makinohara. Sakuta encounters two Shokos, one a middle schooler and the other an adult. He discovers the younger Shoko suffers from a severe heart condition requiring a transplant. As the plot progresses, Sakuta realizes the adult Shoko is from the future and her heart transplant donor was a future Sakuta. The adult Shoko returned to the past to save Sakuta from his near-fatal accident. Sakuta initially sacrifices himself to save Shoko, but Mai intervenes and becomes the heart donor instead. To save Mai, Sakuta travels back in time, preventing Mai's sacrifice and his own accident, leaving Shoko without a donor. Sakuta and Mai resolve to find a way to save Shoko, risking everything they have experienced. Ultimately, they reunite with a healthy Shoko, recognizing each other despite timeline changes.
