"Somali and the Forest Spirit" (Japanese: ソマリと森の神様, Hepburn: Somari to Mori no Kamisama) is a Japanese fantasy manga series by Yako Gureishi. The story is set in a world where humans are nearly extinct, dominated by spirits, goblins, and various strange creatures. Humans are persecuted and seen as outcasts. In this world, a forest guardian golem encounters a lone human girl named Somali. The golem decides to protect Somali and they embark on a journey to find other humans. Along the way, their relationship develops into a father-daughter bond. The manga was serialized online from April 2015 to October 2019 via Tokuma Shoten's online manga magazine Web Comic Zenyon, and was collected into six tankōbon volumes. An anime television series adaptation produced by Satelight and Hornets aired from January 9 to March 26, 2020, for 12 episodes. Crunchyroll co-produced and streamed the series. Although the manga ended on December 22, 2020, due to the author's health problems, the story has garnered much love for its heartwarming father-daughter relationship and fantastical world setting.
