The story began as a web novel on the user-generated novel publishing site Shōsetsuka ni Narō in June 2018, before being acquired by Fujimi Shobo and published as a light novel starting in May 2019. The narrative centers on Yumiella Dolkness, who is reincarnated into the world of the otome game "Light Magic and the Hero," which she previously played. She discovers she's the hidden boss. To avoid being defeated by the hero's party, she relentlessly levels up, reaching an astonishing level 99 upon entering the magic academy, becoming the strongest character. Her black hair and dark magic, symbols of the Demon Lord in the game, draw unwanted attention and misunderstandings. The story follows her attempts to conceal her strength and avoid becoming the Demon Lord, while also forming bonds with those around her. It has been adapted into both a manga and an anime series.
