Honkai Impact 3rd is a free-to-play 3D action role-playing mobile game developed and published by miHoYo. It serves as the spiritual successor to Honkai Gakuen 2, featuring many characters from the previous title in a separate story. The game incorporates various genres, including hack and slash, social simulation, bullet hell, platforming, shoot 'em up, and dungeon crawling, with both single and multiplayer modes. It utilizes gacha mechanics for acquiring new characters and equipment. Initially released on mobile devices, it was later ported to Microsoft Windows. The game is set in an alternate version of Earth plagued by a mysterious force called 'Honkai,' which corrupts humans, creates monsters, and imbues some with god-like powers, creating Herrschers capable of causing disasters. The game takes place in the Current Era, 2015, while a technologically advanced Previous Era was destroyed by Honkai 50,000 years prior. Players control Valkyries to fight against the Honkai. Honkai Impact 3rd features a complex character system, with characters appearing in various forms across different universes (e.g., the Main Universe and Alternate Universes) or even different eras within the same universe.
